Moving the Chart Forward

It is the one aspect of my analysis that people ask about the most. How do I move the chart forward, “rolling it along”, as I call it. How do I tell what’s going on, hour after hour? Well, the answer is really simple… but actually doing it is very hard. I draw up charts on a minute by minute basis if I must but most often for every 15 minutes or so and read each one as if it were the event chart but continue the thread from the previous chart. A stringing together of charts as if each event is an extension of the last. This is how life animates for us is it not? However much of an illusion time may be, it seems to move forward in tiny chunks, or frames, we call seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, etc… So why not the charts?

In fact, with practice you can see ahead easily by watching what the planets are doing at any given moment. Let’s say, for instance, that Pluto is in the second house. We know that the chart backs up to the east, moves towards the west, so this means that Pluto will be in the first house in an hour or so. Watching it tick backward, minute by minute if you like, you can see every aspect made to it and just where it is at any given moment. As the story unfolds in the planets and houses, the entire chart comes alive, moving in predictable directions and creating unpredictable aspects. In that hour that Pluto moves from the second backwards into the first, it may well aspect the cusp of another house, see other planets enter the same house, receive aspects from planets, even become a part of a special configuration. Consider that the Moon may come into aspect with it or engage it something unique like a translation of light. If you watch the chart moving as it does, with the planets moving along with it, you can see what is happening now and what will happen as time passes.

Moving the chart forward in time is easily done in a simple event chart. In those cases that you will consider where events occur over several days, the times are variable and the window of time is large or where long gaps in time occur, you will have to work hard to get the chart to continue the story. It is a given with sidereal time that certain aspects will occur at the same time of day every day during any given period. This does not mean that the events or circumstances will repeat themselves, however most people are creatures of habit and do the same things day after day. The stars only reflect what we are and how we live. Whether one influences the other is an argument similar to the chicken and the egg; no one knows whether the stars influence us or if we only see ourselves reflected there. In fact, this all may be mere intuition or some sort of psychic ability and much less science. It may even be a flight of fancy. I have found it to work for me so I study it.

Back to the subject, you cannot let the recurrence of the same aspects every day discourage you from believing you can learn something new. In fact, the stars will tell you more if you work hard to get the whole picture. Sometimes it takes making charts for every few minutes over many hours in a day. Sometimes you will have to look for the right aspects, sort of like rectification of unknown birth times, and then work from there. You know you are on the right path when the planets and aspects become cohesive and tell the same story over and over again. For instance, in the charts I did for the Caylee Anthony case, I had to project charts over a month period. No matter what else the charts said, which was variable and all over the map, there was a consistency to the fifth house rulers which kept saying that the child was dead. This was the clearest thing the charts in that case told me. She had not been found yet and I was not successful in locating her but the charts were clear. She was dead. Saturn and the fifth house ruler were consistent and not just at the same time everyday but over days on end at various times. This is what you must look for to substantiate what you think you are seeing.

I always treat Astrology as a science. Actually, I also treat numerology this same way. It is only in Tarot reading or Palm reading that I venture into feeling my way. If the charts don’t say it, then I don’t hear it. And this is the wisest way to approach the work. It is conservative and unexciting on the face of it but this is misleading. There is nothing more exciting than working your way through tens of charts to suddenly find the consistent thread. And when you are moving the charts forward, watching the story unfold, this consistency is a must. If you can’t get a consistent story, then the chart is just not viable. There are many charts I have been asked to analyze and some of those have been cast aside for this very reason. To be an honest Astrologer and do it the right way, you should do the same.

So you should take some time out and practice with this method. It is not hard to do, but it is hard to get the hang of. Take a case. Any case that interests you. Draw up a chart for the last time this person was seen. Once you get the drift of that chart and think you have a hold on what it is saying, then draw up a chart for 15 minutes into the future. If nothing seems to change, then move ahead another 15. Keep doing that and watch closely how the aspects fall. For instance, the first chart shows the first house ruler in the eighth house. Right away, the red flags go up and you are thinking, she is going to die. But the next few charts show the ruler moving out of the eighth into the seventh, trine the Moon and in good aspect to the seventh house. Now you have to rethink what the eighth house placement really meant. Do positive aspects exist between the subject and other people in the chart? Does she seem to be having a good time? Could the chart be talking about sex or about other people’s money? You will have to dig deep and study the other placements around it to make sense of what the ruler is telling you. This is your subject. It is important to see what she or he is doing and you can only do it by moving the chart forward. And when you find consistency, then you have found the real story. From there, you can go ahead and discover what happened in the case.
